The purpose of the Skill Up programme is to champion inclusivity and education to uplift communities and advance local capabilities.
Daraz Skill Up focuses on educating Daraz employees and people within our communities, leading to economic growth and improved job opportunities. As part of Daraz Cares, Daraz Skill Up provides education opportunities to our large blue-collor workforce and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to equip them with the skills needed for success. Our focus through the Daraz Skill Up programme is to provide opportunities for continuous learning and access to entry-level business management and marketing courses to equip participants with basic entrepreneurial skills that will help them to boost their careers.
The Pilot launched in Sri Lanka on September 7th for 100 participants saw enrollments across our international employees and from our seller community. Daraz has partnered with Horizon Campus, an established academic institution in the country, to deliver a credible, tailor-made Corporate Certificate in Microsoft Office 365 to participants. 100% of the course fee is borne by Daraz to provide employees and sellers access to this course. The course itself is 13 weeks long and delivered virtually every Sunday. Following the pilot, our goal over the next 24 months is to provide free education to 10,000 individuals, across all 5 Daraz markets.
We have partnered with established academic institutions across the region to deliver credible and well-recognised courses to participants. Our focus is on providing access to entry-level business management and marketing courses to equip beneficiaries with basic entrepreneurial skills that will help them to elevate their careers. All modules are available online to ensure accessibility, with Daraz bearing the cost of course creation and hosting on the platform.
Through our Skill Up programme, eligible employees are given the opportunity to attend online courses, ranging from three to six months, as part of our partnership with academic institutions across different markets.
The Office 365 course has so many benefits and has improved my Excel skills which has a really good positive impact on my daily work. I hope once I complete this course I will be able to gain more knowledge in Office 365 and apply them practically in my Daily work routine.
A very interesting and valuable experience. I'm learning a lot, and it's giving me a good foothold in the basics. Assignments are challenging yet rewarding, with lots of positive feedback from the tutors. This will definitely help me with my career progression within Daraz.
